Access to clean water for all

At the suggestion of the development worker Wolfgang Buchner, the “Aktionsgemeinschaft EMAS – drinking water and hospital Chamaca Bolivia e. V.” was founded to promote the development aid projects he initiated.

Support came at that time mainly from two Catholic parishes, Holy Fourteen Holy Helpers in Munich and St. Joseph in Holzkirchen/Upper Bavaria.

The association initially also served to support the hospital founded by Wolfgang Buchner and his wife Martha Buchner in Chamaca (in the Yungas of Bolivia).

After the Bolivian state took over all health care in 2014, the hospital was no longer necessary to operate. Since then, the association has been able to focus entirely on the drinking water issue.

For this reason, the name was changed in 2014 to "EMAS-International e. V." EMAS International e. V. has almost one hundred members and several hundred sponsors.

The elected board works on a voluntary basis, all expenses are covered by the membership fees, so that all donations go 100% to the projects.

initiator

Wolfgang Buchner, born in 1957, comes from Holzkirchen near Munich.

He is a trained water master and lives with his wife Martha Buchner, a Bolivian doctor, in La Paz/Bolivia. Their three adult children now live in Germany.

Wolfgang Buchner initiated the EMAS concept with an emphasis on the training of self-employed well builders.

The easy-to-learn, sustainable, but very effective technologies used were developed by him and refined and adapted over the years.

Formally, Wolfgang Buchner is self-employed. He is paid by the respective client for the courses he holds.
